Don’t forget your free credit report!
It’s a new year, and you know what that means? You get 3 free credit reports again! One from each reporting agency: Equifax, Experian and TransUnion.

But wait! Don’t go out and get all three reports at once! If you use them all up now, then what will you have left for the rest of the year? You don’t need to get all three at once, so my advice is to just get 1 now, 1 in May, and 1 in September. Then start it all over again next January.
The only issue you’ll run into is that each agency tends to collect your information and update it different than its competitors. Don’t worry about that issue, because you have a free method of viewing your reports multiple times a year. You’ll already be ahead of the game!
