Cuisinart Grill Brush Recall Facts Owners Need This Summer

Summer grilling season brings sizzling burgers, smoky vegetables, and the familiar ritual of scraping yesterday’s dinner off the grill grates. But some Cuisinart grill brush owners need to check their tools before firing up the barbecue because Conair and the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced a recall involving specific metal wire bristle Cuisinart grill brushes. The concern involves loose wire bristles that can detach, stick to food, and create an ingestion hazard.

The good news is that this recall does not cover every wire grill brush sitting in garages, sheds, or patio drawers across the country. Only the Cuisinart models identified by CPSC fall under this recall, so a quick model check can prevent confusion and help families make the right call before the next cookout.

What Cuisinart Grill Brushes Face the Recall Warning

CPSC lists specific Cuisinart metal wire bristle grill brushes in this recall, including models CCB-100, CCB-4125, CCB-5014, CCB-6450, CCB-8012, CCB-4114, CCB-W2, and CSBS-777. The recalled brushes feature black plastic, stainless steel, or wood handles, and some appeared in larger Cuisinart grill tool sets. The affected sets include the Premium Grill 10 Piece Set, 13 Piece Wooden Handle Grill Tool Set, 14 Piece Deluxe Stainless Steel Grill Set, and 20 Piece Deluxe Grill Set.

The easiest way to check a brush involves looking for the model number on the product packaging or identifying information connected to the brush set. CPSC notes that the word “Cuisinart” appears on the handle of the recalled brushes, but the brand name alone does not mean every Cuisinart brush falls under the recall. A barbecue tool drawer can look like a tiny museum of forgotten gadgets, so taking a few minutes to inspect old brushes can save trouble later. This recall involves about 1.7 million units, with sales through retailers and online marketplaces from June 2009 through March 2026.

Why Loose Grill Bristles Create a Serious Safety Problem

A grill brush seems simple enough: scrub, rinse, cook, repeat. The problem starts when tiny metal bristles separate from the brush head and remain on the grill surface or transfer onto food. CPSC warns that swallowed bristles can cause serious internal injuries and may require medical treatment. Conair reported at least 54 reports and reviews involving detached bristles, including three cases where people swallowed metal bristles and sought medical care.

The risk can hide in a way that makes it especially tricky because a loose bristle may look like a harmless speck of debris. A family grilling chicken, corn, or burgers might never notice a tiny metal strand sitting on a grate or stuck to a piece of food. That small detail explains why CPSC urges owners of the recalled models to stop using them immediately. Regular grill cleaning still matters, but the right tool matters just as much.

What Owners Should Do Before the Next Cookout

Owners with a recalled Cuisinart brush should stop using it and contact Conair for the available remedy. The company offers a full refund or a Cuisinart.com credit for the refund amount plus an additional 20% value. CPSC advises consumers to discard the recalled brushes after completing the recall process.

Replacing the brush also creates a good moment to rethink grill-cleaning habits. Many grill owners now choose tools without metal wire bristles, such as nylon brushes, grill stones, or scrapers designed for removing buildup without loose wires. A quick inspection of grill grates before cooking adds another layer of caution, especially after using any cleaning tool. The goal is not to panic over every barbecue accessory, but to make sure the tools around the grill earn their place.

The Summer Grill Check That Takes Five Minutes

A backyard cookout should focus on good food, not a mystery hidden inside a grill tool drawer. This Cuisinart recall gives owners a simple reminder to check the equipment that rarely gets attention once grilling season begins. The safest approach starts with confirming whether a brush matches one of the recalled model numbers listed by CPSC.

A few minutes of checking can turn into a much better summer grilling routine. Owners should remember that this warning applies only to the identified Cuisinart models, not every wire grill brush on the market. Keeping grilling tools clean, inspected, and in good condition helps keep the focus where it belongs: enjoying the meal coming off the grill.
