Discover Bank is a great option if you are looking for a debit card or checking account with no ATM fees. Actually, their online checking account boasts no fees ever. That means you won’t be hit with service fees or charged for using the ATM. On top of that, account holders get 1% cashback on everything up to $3,000 per month when they use their debit card. To take advantage of the fee-free withdrawal, however, you will need to utilize one of the 60,000+ Discover-approved ATMs across the country.
Although it isn’t as well-known as Discover, Axos Bank is another good option for folks looking to escape ATM fees. While there are still ATM fees with this bank, they have a fee reimbursement system. You can get unlimited ATM fee reimbursement. Account-holders will also benefit from a 1.25% APY.
Alliant Credit Union
Any time you can get into a credit union without jumping through hoops, do it. Alliant Credit Union comes with a number of the regular CU perks and they don’t find you for withdrawing your money at the ATM. The bank’s website also says you won’t have to go hunting for ATMs as you might have to with Discover or Axos above. So, it may be more readily available for some people.
If you use your debit card quite a bit, Lending Club may be a good banking option for you. As with Axos Bank, you can receive ATM fee rebates. You also won’t have to deal with any other monthly fees and will get 1% cashback on all purchases with your debit card. The Lending Club website does not specify a limit to the amount of ATM fee reimbursement you can receive though.
Ally Bank is another big banking name these days. Surprisingly, they don’t overwhelm customers with outrageous fees. The bank advertises no monthly maintenance fees and no overdraft fees. If you use one of the 43,000+ Ally-approved ATMs, you won’t have to pay a fee for that either.
