Protect yourself and your identity: Employer Badges

I’ve been riding the D.C. MetroRail to work lately and notice something quite disturbing. Government employees and contractors are riding the train with their badges in full view.

This is a problem because not only can someone near you see your name and your employee ID, but also where you work. Some government agencies really aren’t targets for criminals or spies, but others definitely are. If you have a badge for DHS (Homeland Security), the Capitol, White House, or some other top agency or government location, then you need to hide that badge as soon as you walk out of the door.

Don’t let people see where you work or be able to glean your name or employee number from your badge. It’s a risk to you, your employer, and maybe even our national security

Yeah, the badges are supposed to come off.

Besides, my picture is really, REALLY ugly.
