Festival of Frugality #72 Recap - Used Cars, Scarcity & Waste, and Haircuts
The 72nd version of the Festival of Frugality is up at Frugal for Life and I’m very pleased with a few of the entries:
- Teri from PF Advice gives us an extensive personal account of reasons and ways to buy a used car. Plan about 20-30 minutes to read through the article as it’s very detailed and informative. It convinces me that my next vehicle purchase will be used!
- Story Girl from Storied Money discusses the correlation of Scarcity and Waste. I myself tend to use more shampoo when I have a big jug or bottles in reserve, but when I don’t have much shampoo left, I use it sparingly. Why can’t I be frugal during times of abundance?
- Trent at The Simple Dollar talks about his friend who spends $10 a year on his hair. Of course keeping hair costs low is easiest for married men because 1)they have someone to cut their hair at home and 2)short hair is more acceptable for men. It’s been about 4 years since I spent $16 on our clippers, and I can’t remember the last time I bought shampoo, conditioner, or had to comb my hair.
