People believe that accidents are inevitable. Well, this is generally true because even if we are very cautious, accidents can still happen. But can we really not do something about it?

Let us take fire accidents as an example. Is there a way to prevent fire disasters from happening? Yes. That is why fire extinguisher is a must in every home. Fire may start but if you have a fire extinguisher in your home, there is a big chance that you can stop the fire from spreading and making the accident from getting worse. You must put in mind that to keep you and your family safe, fire extinguishers must also be reachable and accessible in times of emergencies. Take note of these simple reminders regarding fire extinguishers.

  1. Each person in the house must be informed of how to use a fire extinguisher and where they are located.
  2. Put the extinguisher in a noticeable area with its label facing front.
  3. Never put furniture or any object that will block the fire extinguisher.
  4. Make sure your fire extinguishers are regularly inspected and checked to ensure that they are in good working condition.

Best Places In The House To Keep A Fire Extinguisher

  1. It Is A Must In The Kitchen

It is quite self-explanatory why fire extinguisher must be in your kitchen. Fire is always present in the kitchen since it is a place where you cook. The reason why cooking is the number one cause when it comes to fire accidents and injuries at home. Kitchen fires are usually grease fires wherein using water to put the fire down is a big no-no. Just be reminded to not put the fire extinguisher near the stove where smoke and fire can make it difficult to get. Instead, put the extinguisher somewhat far from the stove but make sure it is still accessible such as the kitchen door. Another way to prevent fire in the kitchen is to install a hood system. You can contact Hood System Lake Park for more information.

  1. Place Extinguisher Where Heat Is Present

The fireplace or chimney, or a room heater can also be the reason of fire in the house. Therefore, putting extinguishers near these places can protect you and your family as well.

  1. Fire Extinguishers Should Be Available In Every Floor

You will never know where a fire will start so to make sure you are safe, extinguishers should be present on all the floors of your house including your basement and attic. You can prevent a fire caused by a candle or faulty wiring if you are prepared with an extinguisher wherever you are in your home.

  1. Put One In Your Garage

Combustible materials are typically placed in the garage. The garage also serves as a mini shop where you use tools for repairing minor or even major things. In case of spark, you can quickly grab the extinguisher and prevent the fire.

  1. Do Not Forget Your Bedroom

Most fire accidents happen at night so a fire extinguisher near your bed can help control fire accidents even on wee hours. It is better to quickly stop the fire before it gets out of control.

Truly, we can’t avoid accidents but we can be prepared for it. Getting fire extinguishers may be expensive but it will be more expensive if you lose your properties due to fire disasters. Moreso, there is nothing more important than the safety of your family.
