How to Save Money on Your Next Mattress Purchase

Is your mattress more than 8-years old?  If so, it’s probably time to replace it.  But shopping for mattresses can be a long and expensive process.  Luckily today, we are going to learn how to get a great deal on a mattress without spending weeks searching for the right one.  The simple tips you will find below will save you a lot of money and help keep your stress level in check.

Don’t Be Afraid to Bargain

Buying a mattress is a major purchase and to be able to get a good deal, you will have to haggle a little.  Just like when buying a new car, go into the mattress purchasing process with a straight poker face and kindly demand a good price.  Most mattress dealers mark up the price of their products by as much as 400%.  This means that there is a lot of wiggle room in the price.  So, make sure that you do your homework and remember to bargain.  This will allow you to get a great price and both you and the dealer can walk away happy.

Don’t Be Fooled by An Extended Warranty

Many mattress dealers will try to sell you an extended warranty with the purchase of your mattress.  But the truth is you probably don’t even need it. Most mattress defects occur in the first year of purchase so there is no need to pay extra money for a longer warranty.  Also, you need to replace your mattress every 8 years, so what’s the use of having a warranty longer than that? So, if the dealer suggests an extended warranty, kindly decline their offer.  Doing so will save you some cold hard cash!

Don’t Buy a New Box Spring Set

Unlike your mattress, your box spring set will last for many years.  So unless yours have been damaged in some way, there is no need to spend that extra money.  But keep in mind, some dealers will throw in the box spring set for free.  If this happens, you should take them up on their offer.  Otherwise, it’s ok just to buy the mattress only even if the dealer insists that it’s a good idea.  Not only will this save you money, but you will not have to worry about finding a place to put your old box spring set.  With all that said, some mattress companies require the mattress to be on a box spring or the warranty will become void.  So, make sure that you can use your old box springs before making the purchase.

These tips will help you find the mattress of your dreams for a fraction of the price!  Remember that in order to get a good deal on your mattress, you will need to bargain with the dealer.  Even if you are shopping online, you can still ask for a better price.  This will allow you to get a great deal and you may even be able to get some freebies thrown in.  As you have learned, there is no reason to buy a new box spring set and you can pass on that extended warranty.
