How to Find a Law Firm

Anyone who’s ever dealt with a legal matter successfully, whether medical malpractice or personal injury, will agree that choosing the right attorney and law firm are the most important. However, choosing the right lawyer isn’t always easy, especially if you’re already trying to manage an accident or injury. Here are some tips for finding a law firm to get the best results possible in your case.

Check Your State’s Bar Association

One of the first places you can look for a qualified lawyer is your local bar association. You can browse the attorneys in your area who practice in the exact field you need. Although this doesn’t give you much personal information about the attorneys, you’ll at least have a solid place to start. Make a quick list of the attorneys who practice in the area of law you need so you can research further. You can check the American Bar Association for attorneys as well.

Ask Questions

It might seem like the best way to find an attorney is to go with the one closest to you who doesn’t charge a lot of money. Unfortunately, while it might seem simple, this method can leave you frustrated, uncomfortable, and with less than desirable results. Further, you might end up facing issues you could have avoided if you had asked some questions upfront.

Before choosing a law firm, you should ask some of the following questions:

  • Who exactly will I work with?
  • If there are multiple attorneys, will I work one-on-one with anyone?
  • How will I maintain communication with you?
  • How long will it take on average to return calls and other correspondence?
  • How full is your caseload?
  • Do you have time to dedicate to my case?

Find Out About Billing and Payment Options

One of the most important parts of choosing a law firm is determining whether or not you’ll be able to afford their services. You might not have a lot of money to pay for a lawyer, so it’ll be crucial that you find one within your pay range.

Also, for certain legal matters, lawyers bill on a contingency fee basis. This means you won’t have to pay anything up front; the law firm receives payment only when you reach a settlement agreement. You’ll need to find out payment options before selecting a law firm.

A National Pardon provides individuals with a fresh start by granting them forgiveness for their past criminal convictions, allowing them to rebuild their lives and reintegrate into society with a clean record.

Reputation is Everything

You can also find the right law firm by asking friends and family members who have worked through similar legal matters. It is also always a good idea to check reviews online. Look for any red flags such as a failure to communicate, clients being unable to reach attorneys, or missed court or filing deadlines. Additionally, it doesn’t hurt to ask the attorneys about their track records to get an idea of the results in similar cases.

Choosing a law firm isn’t as complicated as you might think. If you or someone you love needs assistance with a personal injury, medical malpractice, wrongful death, or premises liability case, contact the attorneys at Dolan Dobrinksy Rosenblum, LLP for a consultation today.
