3 Timeshare Repairs to Make ASAP

Are you wondering whether or not you need to make a repair, or maybe multiple repairs, to your timeshare? You’re far from alone, and chances are you are one of the 9.9 million families that own a timeshare. Even though doing repairs can sometimes seem costly and inconvenient, in the end, you will be saving money by protecting your investment from further damage that results in even higher costs. Read on for information about three timeshare repairs you need to make ASAP.

Roof Repairs

You likely bought a timeshare so that you could vacation in an area that you love. If that area happens to be in a humid and warm climate, algae and mold can begin to form in 24 to 48 hours. This is what makes repairing a leaky roof even more urgent. No one wants mold growing in their home, but a damaged roof in a humid climate is a sure mixture for disaster and an expensive repair if the problem isn’t dealt with promptly.

Even if your timeshare isn’t in a hot and humid climate, if you notice that your roof has damage, it will require repair quickly. For instance, if your timeshare is in a snowy environment, and you have a roof with a leak or any kind of damage, it may not be able to properly hold up in that environment. Not addressing this issue could result in not just damage to your timeshare, but also potentially to the people inside of it. This is why it’s important to look for signs you may need your roof repaired. Read below for some signs to look for when inspecting for roof damage.

  • Shingles that are curled, cracked, or just missing altogether
  • Wear and tear around roof objects and openings
  • Staining on the inside of your home on the ceiling or walls
  • Higher than average energy bills
  • A sagging roof deck
  • If you see any of these signs, it’s time to call in a roof repair company.

Plumbing Leaks

You’re on vacation, but then you wake up to the sound of a leaky faucet in the kitchen. You check to see if the faucet is on, but it isn’t. This can only mean one thing: you’ve got a leak.

You could try to fix it yourself, but a lot of times this only exacerbates the problem further, not only not saving you money but also resulting in more extensive damage. Not to mention, small leaks can waste approximately 10,000 gallons of water a year, raising your utility bill significantly. Plumbing issues should be fixed promptly to protect your investment. Signs you have plumbing issues are listed below.

  • Slow draining sinks
  • Very weak water pressure or changes in water pressure
  • Back-flow issues (when you see back-flow water filling your sink or bathtubs)
  • Gurgling water
  • A burst pipe
  • A toilet that won’t stop running

All of these are signs that you have a plumbing issue that needs to be addressed as soon as possible by a professional who can get your timeshare back in working order. You definitely don’t want to wait until it’s too late, resulting in a flooded timeshare unit that requires even more expensive repairs.

Electrical Problems

If you’re experiencing electrical problems in your timeshare, you should never attempt to fix these on your own. Sometimes signs of electrical issues are really obvious, such as outlets or fixtures sparking or constantly blown fuses. However, sometimes the signs are a little more silent. Read below for other things to look for when checking for electrical issues.

  • Hot outlets
  • Flickering lights
  • A burning smell
  • Loose outlets
  • Rodent activity

Knowing how to spot signs of electrical issues in our timeshare can keep you and your loved ones safe from a potentially lethal situation. If you know that you’re experiencing electrical problems, get it repaired ASAP.

Saving Money by Being Proactive

Making necessary repairs is part and parcel of being a timeshare owner. By being proactive, checking your timeshare for damage, and promptly ordering repairs for issues related to roofing, plumbing, or electrical, you can actually end up saving money. You will definitely be doing what you need to do to be a responsible owner by protecting your investment.
