From the definition itself according to this article that frugality is a form of thriftiness, during the times of economic hardship, it is very advantage to us. It is hard enough to make ends meet from paycheck to paycheck, and a lot of people find themselves taking out a payday loan just to make it. If this sounds like you, then you may want to overhaul your budget and get down to some frugal finances. Practicing poor spending habits benefits you nothing, and it might surprise you just how far a little financial planning can get you. Getting away from a seemingly endless cycle of late payments, worry and stress can be done if you just employ a little financial strategy. Designing a budget that allows you to reach your goals is key – you have to be able to cut costs in any way possible, as it is crucial that you don’t live beyond your means, and the amount of help that is available is staggering.

Any virtue can become a vice if taken too far! We need to seek the Golden Mean of the ancients! And frankly, not wasting is not only good for the pocketbook but the planet!

I agree, but think that true frugality is living below your means not just within your means. I think that the trick is making sure that you can continue to sustain your current lifestyle indefinitely and even through hard economic times. I think that being prepared for adversity has something to do with being frugal.

Trying to save some money being frugal is good. But if you spend more time trying to save a nickel and spend a dime doing it. not wise.
Example would be. going 5 miles out of your way to save 5 cents a gallon on your gas fill up for you car. depending on how much your car takes to fill it up, your cars average miliage and your time. is driving 5 miles out of your way really going to save you anything.. most of the time I would say NO.
Something to consider.

I think you may run into an interesting question, if you get frugality right: what happens when it's not worth your time to save more money? If you spend an hour to save $20, that's great -- unless you could be earning $40 working during that same time. I've noticed that many well-off people are 'frugal in spirit': they make the cheap choice to buy expensive, high-quality stuff rather than spending too much time on getting a bargain. It's an interesting question to consider.
