We do have a thermal blanket on the heater and it is turned down to 120 already. So we're not bringing the temp up too high or for too long. Also, we're running the power during off-peak hours (we're on a time metered service), so we pay a few cents less per Kw used. I just wonder if it takes the water heater more energy to bring the water BACK up to temperature when coming off an off cycle, versus the energy required to maintain a given temperature. On that note, turn down your water heater to 120 instead of 140,.. are you really going to notice the difference?.
