1999: Almost a decade ago

Posted by Clever Dude | December 31, 2008 .

Just to put some perspective around things, the Y2K drama was almost a decade ago. Today’s high school freshmen have no clue what the fuss was all about (you only start really remembering stuff around 4 years old).

Wow, I never thought 30 was old until now. Man, I feel bad for you 40 year olds ;)

Happy New Year!

You feel sorry for 40 year olds? I’m 58 and feel sorry for 30 year olds. By the time you hit 40, marginal tax rates will be back to 70% and the government will be direct investors in even more failing industries. Good luck with that.

I feel sorry for anyone that didn’t live through the 80′s when “Greed was good”.

It’s all in how you look at things. I used the dire warnings of Y2K as a motivator to pay off my credit card debt balance. I don’t use credit cards much now and pay my monthly balance, if any, in full.

    Clever Dude,

As a colleague, who just turned 50, once said, ” 50 is no longer old. I think of 80 as old.” I agree and will probably change my perspective when I am 70 :-)
